Just got back from Cecil's. It went great! We played for about an hour, didn't get through every song on our list but the ones we got to went well. We played all three of our new songs from camp, and although they had minor glitches none of them crashed and burned! Yay! The club was packed and the crowd loved all the songs - but especially Oye Como Va. Afterwards, we listened to the Monday Night Big Band and had some well-deserved meals. Unfortunately, David was not feeling well and had to go home. But Claire, James, Anna and I watched the big band for about an hour. Then Anna, Claire and I went home to drop off all the band equipment . . . always the best part of any gig.
Tired but happy,
Nicole
And the award for the longest solo(s) goes to........James Werner!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut in seriousness, everyone sounded great!Although the "highlight" of Cecils for me had to be when I smacked myself in the chin with a cymbal stand. That hurt!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Anna! But in seriousness, you were great Anna! Your trades with James were really neat; you MUST take solos more often! Anyway, I agree with Anna, James takes the cake for long solos. But these solos were amazing, so they were well worth the second chorus, I mean third, wait, now I mean fourth chorus. My favorite song of the night had to be Oye Como Va. David sounds like Santana! Oh, and Nicole's solo on Chameleon was a great way to end the gig. Overall, I thought it went very well, and Nathan sounded fantastic with his big band after our performance. Great job everybody, can't wait to record today!
ReplyDeleteCool, I am writing this in the car on the way to Maryland! We are visiting colleges in the area, but we will be returning tomorrow night and we will record a Christmas CD on Thursday!
