Farewell

So I'm going to have to say goodbye now. This trip has been something I'm never going to forget. It was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things I've ever done. Through the good times and the hard times, the times when I was homesick, the times when I was so tired I couldn't believe it, and the times when I never wanted the trip to end, we made it through and accomplished something wonderful. The veterans who heard us play thoroughly enjoyed our performances, and each and every hospital (or Navy Base, or VFW Post) that we performed at asked us to come back anytime. Of course, the trip had its ups and downs, and some gigs were better than others, but all in all I definitely would do it again, in a heartbeat. There's something magical about changing the lives of people who have made huge sacrifices for me, and for our entire country. Other bands might be more focused on getting a good audience - but we focus on making sure we do something great for the audience we have. There were times when we performed for 3 people - or less. But that doesn't change how I feel about it. I'm so glad that we were able to take this trip. Also, I'd like to thank our parents for all of the hours and hours of time they put into planning the trip and also for their financial support. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to put something like this together, but they made it happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Signing off now from the great city of Chicago, this is Nicole. Thanks for following our Route 66 tour!

P.S. I will be putting up some pictures from the rest of the trip, so stay tuned!

  1. Nicole,
Glad you found the time to complete the blog, complete with pictures. I was following along, and then suddenly, you stopped... in Phoenix! James had shared his pictures with us, some of which were on your blog, so it was nice to see other shots. Also enjoyed your commentary on the trip. Congratulations! A job well done!
