San Diego Navy Base
So today we go back to performing. We got up very, very early to get to the Naval Base on time, because we thought there would be traffic. Turns out, there was barely any traffic and we got to San Diego much earlier than planned. It was okay, though - we went to get some breakfast before the gig. I had round French toast! Yummy! Anyway, after that we went to the Naval Base. They put us into the "Navy Exchange", which was sort of like a small indoor mall for the base. We were right in the middle of the entrance, so everyone who went in and out got to hear us. At first, I wasn't sure if they would like us - this was the only point on the trip when we weren't playing for veterans (with the exception of some people at the VFW Post in Las Vegas) and the first couple minutes were a little slow. Bu things quickly picked up, and by the end people were calling for a second encore! The administration of the Naval Base were very complimentary and even gave us medals for our work! I was very happy that we were able to perform there. Everyone was very nice to us, and so appreciative of the music. It really makes me feel special to bring so much happiness to others. After the performance, we packed up and left the base. We went to a restaurant in San Diego that the Cieremans family liked. The food was really good! Plus we got to eat outside in the warm weather overlooking the water. Mmmmm, tacos. After that, we drove back to Long Beach. Although the day started off rough, it turned out to be one of the best days of the trip!
